Meals on Wheels: Out of the Woods and Into the Community
On Tuesday, March 14, the cast of INTO THE WOODS got out of their costumes and into their walking shoes to join Meals on Wheels in serving the Tenderloin/Mid-Market communities in San Francisco.
It was a beautiful, sunny day in the city when cast members Laurie Veldheer (Cinderella/Granny), Anthony Chatmon II (Lucinda/Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince), Darick Pead (Rapunzel’s Prince, Florinda, Milky White), Lisa Helmi Johanson (Little Red Riding-hood/Rapunzel), Patrick Mulryan (Jack/Steward), Eleasha Gamble (Baker’s Wife), and Javier Ignacio (u/s Baker, u/s Mysterious Man)—alongside a number of other fellow volunteers, including the “Mayor of the Tenderloin” Del Seymour—took to the streets to deliver 250 nutritious and delicious meals to tenants in Single Room Occupancy residences in the neighborhoods surrounding the SHN Golden Gate Theatre. While out, some of the cast members had the honor of sitting and chatting with the recipients to hear about the stories of how Meals on Wheels has impacted their lives.
Volunteering with Meals on Wheels is one of the ways SHN and its productions is giving back to the San Francisco community.
