When Lori Hammel is not on stage performing the role of Ethel Mertz in the hit production I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE, she can be found exploring the great sights in San Francisco. Eight shows a week can be trying, but Hammel has been living it up in the Bay Area…even on a two show day!
Take a peek at her “Day in the Life” photo diary below and don’t forget – this is the final week of performances for I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE, which is playing now through Sunday, Nov. 23 at the SHN Curran Theatre.
Hello friends! Welcome to a 2 show day of I Love Lucy Live on Stage. It all starts with a hot cup of tea.
Getting in the Lucy mood by watching the masters of comedy before leaving for the matinee.
The Curran Theatre is amazing and full of history. The Betty Davis movie “All About Eve” was shot here. I’m glad to have a big strong bodyguard in case any Eve Harringtons appear. Thanks Kirt!
Ran into some pals at the Starbucks across the street. Bryan Miller (Keys #2/Asst. Conductor), Karina Branson (Makeup/Wigs), Tishia Lewis (Wig Manager). We all need some fueling up – it’s 11:30 AM and we’ve got 2 shows ahead of us!
Thru this hallowed stage door so many fabulous actors have entered. Loren is waiting as we sign in and begin matinee preparations.
Our wonderful stage manager Allen McMullen. He makes sure the whole show runs smoothly.
Oh, this beautiful theatre. Such incredible history here at the Curran.
Mark Christopher Tracy (Maury Jasper) re-enacting a scene from All About Eve.
My dressing room.
The “Mertzification” process is nearly complete. But, there can’t be an Ethel without a Fred!!!
Love my Fred (Kevin Remington).
No Ethel is complete without her Lucy! Here she is folks, our wonderful Lucy, (Thea Brooks) getting all done up by the lovely Tishia Lewis.
And of course, we need our Ricky – the dashing Euriamis Losada.
The “fab four” is complete!!
Ethel gets the royal treatment. Thanks to Kelly Bailey (Costume Designer/Manager).
Here Blake Danford (Asst. Wardrobe) puts on the finishing touches to this beautiful vintage blouse. Oh, Ethel would be so happy!
On a break during the show I get a chance to chat with the fabulous Zach Krohn (Company Manager). And guess who’s getting ready to go on in the Alka Seltzer sketch? Cindy Sciacca!
The first show is done and it’s time for some lunch! Jody Madaras (Swing) and I head out to find some delicious San Francisco chow!
I meant to show you Union Square but my finger got in the way on that last shot.
We’re all back at the theatre for the evening show. Oh goodness, the tea cups are piling up!!
When you’re on tour, it’s like a family. Here are our handsome men.
Mark Christopher Tracy, Carlos Martin, Gregory Franklin and Richard Strimer.
Our beautiful ladies – before wigs. Each of these talented women plays so many different characters! When you see the show, try to guess how many wigs they wear. Cindy Sciacca, Sarah Elizabeth Combs, Sara Jayne Blackmore and Kami Seymour.
Denise Moses (Birdie Mae Figg) has lots of gorgeous hair to put up.
Our fantastic ASM Ben Kern says it’s time for me to get my Ethel on for the evening show.
Lucy (Thea Brooks) is ready. We better get on stage before Ricky and Fred or we’ll have some ‘splaining to do!
Second show complete! Time to carefully remove the wig. Thanks Karina Branson!
Our littlest fans are so awesome. She was so excited and made my night with her unbridled enthusiasm.
We have a celebrity in our midst! Here’s Chris Newcomer from the CHICAGO touring cast. We saw his show earlier this week – fabulous!
We love our Lucy fans and they make our world go round. I sure hope you’ll join us as we make our way across the country. We’d love to meet you!
Home at last. It’s been a great day. I just need to take off my make up before falling asleep in front of the TV. Thanks San Francisco. And thank you for joining me on a 2 show day of I Love Lucy Live on Stage.
