Member Spotlight: Amirah Raveneau-Bey
New Member Amirah Raveneau-Bey of San Francisco savors the magic of the Broadway stage. Learn more about her life, below.
What was the first Broadway show you saw?
Bob Fosse’s Dancin’. I lived in New York, and my dad was a drummer on various shows. It takes me back to that little girl mesmerized with the magic of Broadway.
Which character in a musical or play do you most identify with?
Alexander Hamilton. I admire his scrappiness and courage to take risks.
If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be and why?
Oprah Winfrey. I would love to interview her on some of her big life questions.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grow up
An actress… until I saw A Chorus Line and realized it’s really tough out there.
What do you like best about your membership experience?
The best part is knowing that I am already “booked” to see the show automatically. It is like a date with theater that I didn’t have to plan.
Is there anything else that we (and other Broadway fans) should know about you?
I believe that the arts is a form of expression that everyone has inside… visual, dance, etc. I encourage everyone young and old to tap into it.
