SONG AND DANCE MAN
Bill Hamm, SHN member for 30 years, explains why he is a life-long theatergoer.
Where do you live?
What is your occupation?
How many years have you been an SHN Member?
What are you five favorite Broadway shows?
#1 A Chorus Line
#3 Two Gentlemen of Verona
#4 An American in Paris
#5 My Fair Lady and Guys and Dolls
What was the first Broadway show you saw?
Damn Yankees. I remember the incredible talents of Gwen Verdon.
Which character in a musical or play do you most identify with?
Captain Gorg von Trapp, because of his devotion to country.
What does theater mean to you?
A well-done Broadway musical is like nothing else, combining music, dance, comedy, and often emotion that’s missing from other forms of entertainment.
What is one thing that someone would be surprised to know about you?
I never miss an episode of Dancing With the Stars. It’s the Walter Mitty in me. With help from Cheryl or Kim or Lindsay, maybe I could be Jerry Mulligan in An American in Paris.
If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead), who would it be?
Richard Feynman – physicist, musician, author, comedian, safe-cracker, practical joker, and ladies’ man.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Is there anything else that we should know about you?
For nearly 47 years, I have been married to the most wonderful (and beautiful) woman there is, Kathleen Kelley Hamm.
