Humphry Slocombe creates The Phantom of the Opera-inspired ice cream sundae
To celebrate the opening of The Phantom of the Opera at the SHN Orpheum Theatre, Humphry Slocombe and SHN have collaborated on a limited edition ice cream sundae inspired by Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera.
Provoked by the theatrical drama and romance of this grand musical, the Phantom Sundae honors a classic confection with a rich fudge brownie, topped with a heavenly serving of French Vanilla ice cream. But, just like Cameron Mackintosh’s new take on this Broadway classic, Humphry Slocombe introduces a modern spin on a traditional ingredient through their exclusive, house-made rose-infused hot fudge, which cloaks this tasty juxtaposition. And, finally, an Amarena cherry-on-the-top not only adds a pop of color to this creation, but also transports the drama from the stage straight to your taste buds.
“The imagery of the Phantom’s Mask and the single red rose are symbols of the dark and twisted love story and how love can drive one to tragic and all-consuming heartbreak,” says Humphry Slocombe Co-Founder, Executive Chef, and Expert Baker Jake Godby, “Don’t miss our tribute to this iconic show, which we know is going to disappear faster than The Phantom!”
The limited edition ice cream is available now through the entire month of September 2018 at both Humphry Slocombe locations in San Francisco—2790 A Harrison Street (Mission Location) and 1 Ferry Building (Ferry Building Location)—as well as their location in Oakland at 2335 Broadway. A prominent ice-cream producer in San Francisco since 2008, Humphry Slocombe’s previous SHN show-inspired flavors include “Wicked,” “Cabaret,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” “Into the Woods,” and, crowned by the Mercury News as Best Ice Cream in The Bay, “The Color Purple.” Visit HumphrySlocombe.com for more information.
The San Francisco engagement of The Phantom of the Opera comes to the SHN Orpheum Theatre this September 5 to 30, 2018. Get your tickets today at shnsf.com.
