What are your top five favorite Broadway shows?
#2. War Horse (my husband said, “you’re crying at a PUPPET SHOW!!” — lol …
#3. Jersey Boys
#4. Next to Normal
#5. The Phantom of the Opera
What was the first Broadway show you saw? Do you remember any details about your experience?
Phantom. My parents took me in NY when I was in 7th grade and I’ve never forgotten it.
Which character in a musical or play do you most identify with and why?
Princess Fred (Winnifred) in Once Upon a Mattress. I played her in high school and could relate to her because she was not “refined’ or dainty and didn’t look like a princess. But she had determination and a big heart!!
What does theater and/or Broadway mean to you?
Theater is my favorite art form. You can watch a play and be transported anywhere in the world during any time in history (past, present, or future) and you feel a range of emotions as you identify with the characters and empathize (or not) with them.
What is one thing that someone would be surprised to know about you?
I’ve climbed the highest peak on every continent and have skied to both the North and South Poles.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m an awesome parallel parker.
What accomplishment are you most proud of (personally or professionally)?
Training the very first Ugandan women to work as porters and Trekking guides in the Rwenzori Mountains (uganda’s highest peak is there). Before my work over there, local women weren’t allowed in the mountains. I fought to change that and was successful. Now the women there can earn a sustainable living wage by working in the mountains.
Is there anything else that we (and other Broadway fans) should know about you?
I love dogs. I mean, I REALLY love dogs. I’m obsessed with my lab and I dedicated my book to him.
